Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4's open beta opened to 115,145 concurrent players on Steam before dropping to roughly 51,000 a day later, with user reviews now sitting at "Mixed" and 45% negative.

Infinity Ward has used its official channels to confirm the first Modern Warfare 4 beta patch is already in the oven, listing footstep audio tuning, the return of map voting, weapon balance adjustments and bug fixes as the immediate priorities after a rocky Day 1 for the Early Access Multiplayer and Campaign beta.

EA's Battlefield 6 free trial runs from August 18 through August 25, sitting almost perfectly inside Activision's first Modern Warfare 4 beta window of August 21 to 25. Both seasons collide this weekend, with Battlefield 6's Top Gun mid-season update and Modern Warfare 4's first-ever campaign-mission beta lined up side by side.

Activision and Infinity Ward have released the official Meet the New Squad Campaign trailer for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, introducing the US and ROK marines of the new campaign ahead of the October 23 launch on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
