Nintendo Switch 2 UK Price Confirmed at £419.99 From September 1, Up £24 From £395.99

Nintendo has officially confirmed the UK price for the Nintendo Switch 2 from September 1, 2026, setting the new retail price at £419.99, up from the current £395.99 launch price. The £24 increase is the smallest of the four regional price revisions Nintendo has now detailed for markets outside Japan.

The confirmation was first published today by Nintendo Store UK on its official X account, which stated: "From 01/09, Nintendo Switch 2's price will be revised from £395.99 / €469.99 to £419.99 / €499.99 on Nintendo Store." The same figures were independently reported by TechRadar and IGN, both of which received confirmation from Nintendo of America on August 20.

The UK increase of roughly $33 is smaller than the equivalent rise Nintendo has applied in other major regions. In the United States, the Switch 2 will go from $449.99 to $499.99, a $50 jump, beginning the same day. Canada will see a C$50 rise from C$629.99 to C$679.99, and the Eurozone will move from €469.99 to €499.99, a €30 increase. Japan already received its own Switch 2 price revision in 2025, with the console now listed at ¥59,980.

The September 1 increase marks the first time the Switch 2 has gone up in price outside Japan since launch. Nintendo first warned that a price rise was coming in May 2026, when the company revised US pricing on its official Nintendo.com site. At the time, Nintendo of America said the change was driven by "various changes in market conditions, which are expected to extend over the medium to long term," and apologized for the impact on customers. Nintendo has not announced any changes to the standard Nintendo Switch, and pricing for the Switch 2 in Latin America has yet to be confirmed.

The reason behind the global revision is widely understood to be the ongoing RAM and memory component shortage that has hit consumer electronics across the board, an issue that has already pushed the PlayStation 5 to $649.99 in the US and the Xbox Series X to $799.99. Analysts including Mat Piscatella of Circana have noted that the Switch 2's component cost base is heavily exposed to the same memory pricing pressure.

For UK buyers, that leaves just under two weeks to purchase a Switch 2 at its launch price before the increase takes effect. Retailers including the Nintendo Store UK and major high street chains are expected to honor the £395.99 price point through August 31.
