Xbox Free Play Days Adds Borderlands 4, Madden NFL 27 and More for September 10-13 Weekend

Microsoft has kicked off the weekend's Free Play Days lineup on Xbox, putting six titles on the table from Thursday, September 10 through Sunday, September 13 at 11:59 p.m. PT. The promotion, detailed in a new Xbox Wire post by Xbox marketing manager Kyle Ocean, includes Borderlands 4 and F1 25 2026 Season Edition as the biggest draws for Game Pass subscribers, alongside Surviving Mars: Relaunched, CarX Drift Racing Online, and a two-hour Dustborn trial.

Borderlands 4 drops players on the planet Kairos as one of four new Vault Hunters, with the Timekeeper's regime serving as the campaign's central antagonist. The Free Play Days version is available on Xbox Series X|S with a launch discount that cuts the $69.99 price to $34.99 for those who want to keep playing after the trial. F1 25 2026 Season Edition bundles the base game with the 2026 Season Pack so players can work through the 2025 campaign and then pick up the new car designs and team liveries in the 2026 season, currently priced at $34.99 down from $49.99.

Surviving Mars: Relaunched is a refreshed version of the colony-management sim with a new research tree and modernised visuals, while CarX Drift Racing Online brings the long-running drift series to Xbox One and Series X|S. Dustborn rounds out the Game Pass portion with a tighter two-hour trial cap because of its single-player campaign length, but the discount window still runs the full weekend.

The headline addition for non-subscribers is EA Sports Madden NFL 27, which Microsoft is opening up to all Xbox members with no Game Pass subscription required. It joins the trial at the same discount structure as the other titles, giving football fans a chance to sample the latest entry ahead of the NFL season.

Players can pick up the trial games by opening the Microsoft Store on console, heading to the Subscriptions tab and downloading from the Free Play Days collection, or by visiting each game's page on Xbox.com and signing in to install remotely. Any Gamerscore and achievements earned during the trial carry over if players decide to buy the full game at the limited-time discount.
