WARDOGS Steam Early Access Launch Tops Best-Sellers Chart
BULKHEAD and Team17's 100-player, three-team tactical FPS WARDOGS launches into Steam Early Access on September 10, debuting at the top of the global Steam best-sellers chart and clearing 300,000 peak concurrent users on day one.

BULKHEAD and Team17 have launched WARDOGS into Steam Early Access on Windows PC today. The 100-player, three-team tactical FPS has cleared 1 million copies sold and over 300,000 peak concurrent players on Steam, debuting at No. 1 on the global best-sellers chart.
WARDOGS is built around a single high-stakes mode called the Control Zone: three rival squads of up to 100 players in total fight over randomized 2x2km capture points inside larger destructible maps. Matches use cash-and-XP-based progression, with proximity voice chat, vehicles, logistics systems, and a building-and-destruction layer that BULKHEAD has positioned as the game's tactical differentiator from the battle royale and extraction genres.
Servers came under immediate pressure after launch, with players reporting long matchmaking queues and being kicked from matches. BULKHEAD shipped a hotfix overnight that targets the queue and kick issues, and says it is letting players into matches in controlled batches while it monitors the situation.
BULKHEAD has committed to a one-to-two-year Early Access window. During that period, the team will prioritise stability, performance, balancing, and bug fixes, with no in-game monetisation apart from an optional $49.99 cosmetic-only Supporter Edition. There is no Mac or Linux build at launch, and Easy Anti-Cheat is active from day one. PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions are targeted for 2028.
WARDOGS is available now on Steam Early Access, with the studio's latest operational update posted to the WARDOGS Steam News Hub. Console versions for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S are targeted for 2028.
