Vampire Survivors: Legacy of the Bloodmoon DLC Launches August 28 for $0.99

Vampire Survivors developer poncle has released its third original expansion, Legacy of the Bloodmoon, on August 28, 2026, simultaneously across PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, and mobile. Priced at $0.99 USD (or regional equivalent), the DLC marks a return to original Vampire Survivors expansions after a string of high-profile crossovers with Among Us, Balatro, and Castlevania.

The expansion introduces 12 playable characters, more than 16 new weapons and evolutions, an adventure mode, a "very large" new XL stage called Red Moon Manor, and eight new music tracks. According to the official announcement on Steam News, Legacy of the Bloodmoon also folds in additional content for the older Legacy of the Moonspell expansion, including seven new unlocks, alongside a permanent price reduction for that earlier DLC to match the new expansion's $0.99 tag. Studio lead Luca Galante has described the project as an "accidental" expansion: it began as a small content patch for Moonspell that grew into a standalone release.

Among the new weapons highlighted by poncle are the Scarlet Needle (Malice Bloodmoon's signature attack, which impales enemies with paralyzing needles), Incineration, Blacken Firmament, and a more traditional FireBall. Red Moon Manor, the new XL stage, is framed as the ancient stronghold of the Order of the Red Moon, tying into the DLC's central story around Malice Bloodmoon leading disciples to find the order's lost paradise.

The DLC's launch arrives as Vampire Survivors itself has been rebranded to Vampire Survivors: First Survivaton, reflecting the new "Survivaton" label poncle announced in June to umbrella future survivors-like projects. The game is also heading to Nintendo Switch 2, with that version currently in production.

Our Take

For a sub-dollar expansion, Legacy of the Bloodmoon is unusually generous — 12 characters, 16-plus weapons, a full adventure mode, and an XL stage is a lot of Vampire Survivors for less than a coffee. The simultaneous cross-platform release is also a notable shift for poncle, which has historically staggered updates across consoles. The price cut on Legacy of the Moonspell finally brings both original expansions onto equal footing, which is the most consumer-friendly piece of this rollout.
