Toaplan Arcade Garage: Flying Fire Shark Blasts Onto PlayStation 4 and Switch Worldwide Today
Clear River Games ships M2's retro shoot-'em-up compilation for Toaplan's Shark series worldwide on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch today, bundling six classic arcade titles plus console ports of Sky Shark and Fire Shark as included DLC on the physical edition.

Clear River Games has released Toaplan Arcade Garage: Flying Fire Shark worldwide on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch today, August 29, 2026, in both digital and physical editions. The collection, developed by M2, finally brings the original Toaplan Shark series — a landmark set of vertical scrolling shoot-'em-ups from the late 1980s — to Western consoles together, complete with arcade-accurate modes and modern quality-of-life tools.
The package centers on six arcade titles: Flying Shark (known as Hisho Same in Japan), the U.S. version Sky Shark, the Japanese version Flying Shark, Fire Shark (Same! Same! Same! in Japan), and a two-player version of Same! Same! Same!. The western release also brings console ports as included DLC on the physical edition, covering Sky Shark (NES), Same! Same! Same! (Sega Mega Drive), Fire Shark (Sega Genesis), Wardner (arcade), Wardner no Mori (Famicom Disk System), and Pyros (U.S. arcade). Digital owners can pick up the same DLC set separately.
M2 has built the collection around arcade authenticity while adding options for newcomers. Arcade Mode preserves the original challenge and tuning, while a Super Easy Mode is included for Flying Shark and Fire Shark. M2 Gadgets on each side of the screen alert players to off-screen threats and hidden items, and Arcade Challenge Mode breaks each stage into bite-sized segments with an automatic rewind on death, designed to help players grind toward one-credit clears.
The launch comes from Clear River Games, the Sweden-based retro and classic publisher that sits inside the Embracer Group's Freemode organization. Physical editions of the compilation are available through Clear River's own store, with Game Outlet handling European distribution.
Toaplan Arcade Garage: Flying Fire Shark is available today, August 29, on the PlayStation Store and the Nintendo eShop. The official press release with full feature breakdown and DLC list is available on Clear River Games' product page and mirrored on the games press wire, while the PlayStation Store listing provides the platform-side storefront entry.
