The Blood of Dawnwalker Will Now Ship With a 60 FPS Performance Mode on PS5 and Xbox Series X at Launch

Rebel Wolves has confirmed that The Blood of Dawnwalker will ship with a 60 FPS Performance Mode on day one, marking a notable reversal from the studio's earlier stance that the game would launch capped at 40 fps on consoles.

The studio announced the change on its official X account on August 24, 2026. "The Blood of Dawnwalker will receive a Performance Mode targeting 60 FPS on PS5, PS5 Pro, and Xbox Series X on Day 1 through the launch patch," the developer wrote. "On Friday, we answered your questions about console performance with what we knew we could confidently deliver at launch." Rebel Wolves added that player feedback pushed the team to "focus on finishing the next round of tests" so that Performance Mode could be ready in time for launch.

With the new mode in place, The Blood of Dawnwalker will offer three console presets on PS5, PS5 Pro and Xbox Series X: Performance targets 60 fps, Balanced targets 40 fps, and Quality targets 30 fps. The PlayStation 5 versions will additionally feature "overall visual enhancements" beyond what is offered on Xbox, according to the developer's statement.

The update is a clear response to community pressure. Earlier this month Rebel Wolves had confirmed that the console version of the action RPG would launch with a 30 fps Quality Mode and a 40 fps Balanced Mode, with no 60 fps option expected at launch. That positioning drew heavy criticism from players, who argued that a 2026 action RPG launching without a 60 fps mode was a hard sell on current-generation hardware. The new tweet acknowledges that criticism directly, telling fans it was "clear how much this mattered to many of you."

The Blood of Dawnwalker is scheduled to release on September 3, 2026, for PS5, PS5 Pro, Xbox Series X|S and PC. It is the debut title from Rebel Wolves, a Warsaw-based studio founded by former CD Projekt RED developers including Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, and is published by Bandai Namco. The game is described as an open-world dark fantasy action RPG set in a 14th-century European-inspired world in which players take on the role of a vampire-like Dawnwalker named Coenrad fighting to free his family from a brutal occupation.
