Palworld Update 1.0.4 Lands September 7 With New 'Beyond Dimensions' Missions and Major Balance Overhaul

Pocketpair has pushed Palworld version 1.0.4 live on September 7, with the console build labeled 1.102.642. The studio calls it one of the heaviest patches since the game exited Early Access on July 10, touching combat, fishing, base building, audio, UI, and performance in addition to a new mission chain.

The headline addition is a connected pair of late-game sub-missions. "Beyond Dimensions" can be picked up from an NPC at Fisherman's Point in Mount Obsidian, and clearing it unlocks the follow-up "From the Far Side of the Moon." Both expand the post-1.0 endgame chain without requiring a fresh save or world reset, and the studio has flagged them as the lead story for the patch.

Combat and Pal behavior got the most attention. Pocketpair rewrote how summoned and base Pals choose skills so they more reliably pick attacks expected to deal higher damage, retuned backstep behavior for summoned Pals using certain skills, and adjusted the Core Eject damage on the Core Eject Shotgun. The team also closed a repeatable exploit where players could chain unnatural backsteps before firing Power Bomb, and made sure mission-target Pals and NPCs can no longer fall asleep mid-objective. Lapure's swimming speed was tuned, and the Work Suitability requirement for gathering Ancient Bark was lowered to Level 1, opening the resource up to early-game players.

Fishing got a full pass. Difficulty for spots in the Sunreach floating islands and the World Tree area was rebalanced, item yields from successful catches now vary more clearly by bait type, and on-screen control guides, warning indicators, and recommended equipment prompts were added during the fishing minigame. A new "Fish Behavior During Fishing Minigames" toggle was added to World Settings, and terrain, water rendering, and updraft positioning were retuned across Sunreach and the World Tree area.

Base building and multiplayer also see substantive fixes. Players, summoned Pals, and base Pals no longer catch fire from player-built Campfires, work-canceled materials return to inventory by default, and admins now have a per-player building-count setting for servers. Co-op and dedicated-server bugs that could break mission progression, guild assignment, or cause Pals to vibrate on-screen were all corrected.

On the platform side, the PlayStation 5 version reduces memory usage during co-op, the Xbox One version cuts memory usage overall, and PC now defaults to a 120 FPS cap. Other additions include a name search in Palpedia, explanations of Work Suitability details on the Pal status UI, support for opening chat from the PS5 Radial Menu, and version numbers on mismatch errors.

Pocketpair lists dozens of crash and progression fixes in the full patch notes, including crashes tied to returning to the title screen after a connection error, an issue where a Pal could not be re-summoned immediately after a recall, a server crash that could occur while sorting Pals, and a progression lock if the barrier in Sunreach was removed before the main mission was accepted. Visual bugs such as Panthalus's mismatched collision, a Palbox UI issue with four base Pal rows, and the Field Boss icon for Prixter Lux not displaying correctly are also patched.

Palworld v1.0.4 is live now on Steam, Xbox, PlayStation 5, and through Xbox Game Pass. The full Steam changelog is available on the official Palworld Steam Community page, and Pocketpair's official Palworld hub hosts the studio's broader update roadmap.
