NBA 2K27 Confirms 60 FPS Performance Mode for Nintendo Switch 2 Ahead of September 4 Launch

NBA 2K27 will run at 60 frames per second on Nintendo Switch 2 in its Performance Mode, developer Visual Concepts has confirmed, putting the Switch 2 release on par with the game's frame rate on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The answer came in an official studio Q&A circulated on social media this week.

Asked directly whether NBA 2K27 reaches 60 FPS on Switch 2, the developer answered: "Yes - NBA 2K27 runs at 60 FPS on Switch 2, in Performance Mode. That means the same smooth, responsive feel you get on every other platform, whether you're docked or in handheld."

NBA 2K27 launches worldwide on September 4, 2026, after a fuller August 18 Preseason Breakdown showcase that already confirmed co-op MyCareer, a co-ed City, the new MyNBA Legacy mode, and Badge Tokens for the Builder. Performance Mode support has been one of the most common requests from Nintendo-ballers since the series returned to a Nintendo platform with NBA 2K26 last year.

The Performance Mode confirmation also lands in the run-up to the next major Nintendo release window on Switch 2, which is set to draw extra attention to how the hardware handles always-online, full-fat sports titles. Nintendo has priced the Switch 2 from £419.99 in the UK from September 1 and $499 in the US, putting the price hike on a collision course with the game's launch. NBA 2K27 is sold digitally on Nintendo eShop and at retail, and the Switch 2 edition carries the same full feature set as the home consoles.

Players who buy the Switch 2 version will need a Nintendo Switch Online subscription to access online multiplayer, including the city, Pro-Am and Rec Center modes.
