Modern Warfare 4 Open Beta Day 3 Adds Double XP, Transit 213 24/7 and 6v6 Gunfight on Kill Block

Infinity Ward drops its August 30 Modern Warfare 4 Open Beta update: double XP and double weapon XP from 10 AM PT, plus a Transit 213 24/7 playlist, 6v6 Gunfight on Kill Block, and Warzone HUD and ground-loot fixes.

Modern Warfare 4 Open Beta Day 3 Adds Double XP, Transit 213 24/7 and 6v6 Gunfight on Kill Block

Infinity Ward pushed the Modern Warfare 4 Open Beta into its third day on Sunday, August 30, turning on Double XP and Double Weapon XP from 10:00 AM PT and rotating in two new playlists ahead of the test's September 1 finish. The studio also tightened the Warzone ground-loot interaction radius, reworked the Operator selection screen on lower-spec hardware, and shipped a short Multiplayer bug fix list.

The Double XP window is the headline for players still chasing Level 30 and the Beta Forged Blueprint. The studio is explicit that both XP multipliers are aimed at the cap and at Weapon XP, so anyone sitting in the teens after Friday's TTK rewrite and Saturday's Combat Outpost drop has the full Sunday to grind. Transit 213 24/7 and 6v6 Gunfight on Kill Block are both short, repeatable queues built for that grind. Score limits on Transit 213 are also pushed up for the day, with Team Deathmatch moving from 100 to 150 and Kill Confirmed from 75 to 100 so the matches last longer.

The new playlists join a Sunday-only Multiplayer slate that still includes Quick Play, Open Moshpit, Hijack, Search and Destroy, Mobility Course, Combat Outpost, and both Zodiac Resurgence variants. Playlist availability flips periodically based on time of day, so Resurgence access will rotate in and out across the session.

Warzone's Sunday notes are a pickup and HUD pass rather than a weapon-balance pass. Ground loot interactions are tightened because the weapon interaction radius was larger than intended, so players could grab a gun when they meant a nearby loot item. The radius now matches live-game loot. The Armor Hit Damage Indicator has also been clarified so it reads better when an enemy's Armor is being broken, and Blood and Death's Door effects have been pulled back to their intended mix. HUD Shake is disabled for the remainder of the Open Beta, and Screen Shake and Gun Shake values have been reduced so the picture moves less while firing. Saturday added a separate HUD Widget Shake toggle; today's move simply turns HUD Shake off entirely for the test.

On the Multiplayer side, the only shipped bug fix is for Combat Outpost, where poor streaming quality at the start of a match has been addressed. Infinity Ward is also still chasing Operator hair and model quality across platforms. Weekend Two forced temporal dithering on so nearby colors blend across frames, and today's update tightens Operator model streaming when the Operator Selection Menu is opened, so models on less powerful hardware should no longer flash in at a lower visual quality. The stated end state is that Price keeps a fuller hairline regardless of platform; long-distance hair is flagged as a launch item, not a Beta one.

Three Warzone bug fixes ship alongside: the Downed State Icon can now show correctly when an opponent is downed, the Loot Feed no longer appears well after the associated pickup, and a main-menu loop that previously required a restart has been fixed. Live Resurgence issues are still being tracked on the Raven Software Warzone Trello.

Open Beta runs through September 1, with Infinity Ward stating it will keep patching every full day of the test. Players can send feedback with media or a match ID through the standard channels.

The Modern Warfare 4 Beta Patch Notes page, including the full Multiplayer, Resurgence, and earlier Early Access entries, is available on the official Call of Duty site.
