MLB The Show 26 Game Update 17 Patches Field of Dreams Crash, Resets Ranked Season, Tightens Code of Conduct

San Diego Studio has deployed MLB The Show 26 Game Update 17 across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch, the studio confirmed in its official patch notes. The build went live at 4 a.m. PT / 7 a.m. ET on September 1, 2026, with versions 1.0017 on PS5, 1.0.88 on Xbox Series X|S, and 1.017 on Switch.

The headline fix addresses a long-running bug where a black screen could occur after a home run was hit at the Field of Dreams stadium. Alongside the crash fix, the update ships a fresh wave of player likeness refreshes for around 40 MLB players including Bryce Harper, George Springer, Luis Castillo, Casey Mize, Ben Joyce, and Kazuma Okamoto. San Diego Studio notes that some of the likeness updates will only take visual effect after a roster update scheduled for September 4.

Game Update 17 also ushers in a new Ranked Season in Diamond Dynasty, bringing fresh Competitive Program rewards and a reset leaderboard for the September push. A new Multiplayer Program is also part of the September 1 content drop, with the studio's official schedule showing further multiplayer events landing on September 4.

The most consequential change in the notes, however, is a written update to the in-game Code of Conduct. The studio says it is explicitly extending its existing policy against unauthorized buying, selling, and transferring of Stubs to "the promotion of third-party currency purchasing, including sponsorships, referrals, and other related activities." The patch notes warn that "users found promoting third-party storefronts after Game Update 1.17 is live may be subject to suspension or permanent bans," a step that codifies a previously less clearly stated policy and signals an enforcement push going into the fall Diamond Dynasty cycle.
