Into the Radius 2 Lands on PS VR2 on September 24 With Free 2-Player Co-op Coming in Q4 2026
CM Immersive confirms a September 24, 2026 release on PlayStation VR2 for the hardcore VR survival shooter Into the Radius 2, with native PS VR2 features and a free 2-player co-op update planned for Q4 2026.

CM Immersive has confirmed that Into the Radius 2 will arrive on PlayStation VR2 on September 24, 2026, bringing the studio's hardcore VR survival shooter to Sony's headset for the first time. The date was locked in via an official PlayStation Blog post on August 24, and the PlayStation Store already lists the title under publisher ID UP8856-PPSA24677.
Into the Radius 2 is the sequel to the 2019 standalone VR hit Into the Radius, set in the hostile, artefact-strewn Pechorsk Anomaly of the fictional Koldezh exclusion zone. The new entry keeps the original's tactical, ammo- and resource-scarce survival loop while rebuilding the world for free movement and expanded combat.
For the PS VR2 version, CM Immersive is leaning on the headset's hardware. According to the PlayStation Blog post, the game runs at a native 90 FPS and uses eye-tracked foveated rendering to keep distant fog and anomalies legible without sacrificing smoothness. Adaptive triggers give each firearm its own resistance, and the Sense controllers plus headset haptics translate anomaly pulses, weapon recoil and close-quarter impacts into physical feedback. Sony's Tempest 3D AudioTech is used to surface footsteps and hazard clicks in the dark.
Weapons, enemies and anomalies have also been reworked. Rifles now support swappable barrels, stocks, optics, grips and magazines, with separate wear-and-dirtiness tracking for each component — failing to clean parts leads to mid-fight jams. Armour and artifact behaviour is similarly modular, and a new Tide periodically sweeps the map to reset loot and enemy placements. Enemy archetypes like Mimics now flank and use cover, Fragments rush head-on, and Phantoms only become visible when the player stops moving.
CM Immersive has also confirmed that the launch build will be a single-player campaign only, with a free update adding 2-player co-op arriving in Q4 2026. The studio frames it as an explicit choice to ship a complete solo experience first, then bring in shared resources and tactical play after launch. A 15-minute PS VR2 deep dive is available on the official PlayStation Blog alongside the announcement.
The PS VR2 release joins the existing PC VR (Steam, Meta Quest) versions of Into the Radius 2, which have been in early access since 2024. Pricing and pre-order details for the PS VR2 edition were not included in the PlayStation Blog post at the time of writing.
Our Take
CM Immersive's call to ship solo first and treat co-op as a post-launch update is the right read for a VR audience that has grown wary of half-finished launches. Native 90 FPS, foveated rendering and proper use of the Sense controllers' haptics and triggers are also a better pitch than a list of bullet points — they are the exact reasons PS VR2 owners have stuck with the platform. If the free Q4 co-op update lands on time, this becomes one of the more meaningful survival shooters on the headset.
