Final Fantasy VII Remake Trilogy PAX West Panel Drops New Recap Trailer and FITS Job Details Ahead of Revelation's Spring 2027 Launch

Square Enix premiered a fresh Final Fantasy VII Remake Trilogy recap trailer and walked through the new FITS job system, Vincent Valentine gameplay and Cid Highwind's lances at a PAX West 2026 developer panel hosted by director Naoki Hamaguchi and battle director Teruki Endo.

SQUARE ENIX used its PAX West 2026 developer panel in Seattle to share a fresh look at the road to Final Fantasy VII Revelation, the third and final entry in the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy set to release in Spring 2027 across PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S and PC. The roughly hour-long talk, titled "From Reunion to Resolve: Designing the FFVII Remake Trilogy," was hosted by Final Fantasy VII Remake Series director Naoki Hamaguchi alongside battle director Teruki Endo, and was streamed live for fans who could not attend in person.

The panel opened with a new trilogy recap trailer celebrating the recently announced release window. Hamaguchi shared the trailer on his official X account, writing that the panel "had a wonderfully intimate and welcoming atmosphere" and that the studio is "grateful for all the support you've given us along the way" as it counts down to the final installment. The trailer recaps the reunion-and-bonds arc of Remake and Rebirth and teases the resolve-driven conclusion awaiting players in Revelation.

Most of the new gameplay and systems detail centered on the FITS job system, which was first confirmed during the June 2025 Summer Game Fest reveal and then expanded at gamescom Opening Night Live in August 2026. According to the PAX West session, FITS equips party members with four classic Final Fantasy jobs — Warrior, Knight, Black Mage and Summoner — and is the most customizable progression layer of the trilogy. Each job was tuned to a character's natural battle style and built on the Materia foundation fans already know. Hamaguchi and Endo confirmed that FITS unlocks roughly five to six hours into the campaign, that every party member can be outfitted with any of the four jobs, and that a separate costume system lets players keep a character's classic appearance independent of the job they have equipped.

The panel also dug into Vincent Valentine and Cid Highwind, both of whom were officially confirmed as playable in Revelation during the gamescom showcase. Vincent's gunplay leans on lightning-fast shooting combined with bestial transformations, while Cid controls the tempo of battle with single-target lance strikes and area-of-effect sweeps. His lance can also mark enemies so that abilities such as the Dragoon Jump can hit multiple targets at once, with Black Mage users gaining access to "-ja" tier spells that sit above the standard "-ga" tier, and Summoner users able to chain synergy attacks with summons such as Ifrit.

Hamaguchi described the trilogy's three-part creative arc as "reunion" for Remake, "bonds" for Rebirth and "resolve" for Revelation, with Advent Children cited as the long-running graphical reference for the entire Remake Series. He framed the project as an entry point designed to keep Final Fantasy VII relevant for newcomers 20 to 30 years from now, building on the things that defined the original release — Midgar and Shinra, Cloud and Sephiroth, the journey with friends, the Materia system and innovations in visual expression.

Final Fantasy VII Revelation is targeting a Spring 2027 launch across PS5, Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam, the Epic Games Store and Xbox PC, with Square Enix already confirming a Story Expansion Pass that adds Sephiroth- and Turks-focused DLC between Winter 2027 and Spring 2028. Hamaguchi noted in his social post that more details on the final installment will be shared as the countdown continues, and additional panels are already scheduled for New York Comic Con on October 8. More on the trilogy and the new systems lives on the official Final Fantasy VII product page.
