EA SPORTS NHL 27 Launches Worldwide Today on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S With Connected Franchise Debut

EA SPORTS NHL 27 is now live worldwide on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The annual hockey title finishes its Early Access window today with a worldwide release, bringing a fully overhauled presentation layer, a brand-new online league mode in Connected Franchise, and the next chapter of the World of Chel and Hockey Ultimate Team seasons.

The game's launch focuses on team-specific identity. EA rebuilt all 32 NHL arenas with new presentation, authentic goal songs, a refreshed broadcast package, and updated crowd systems so each building looks, sounds, and plays like its real-world counterpart. A new commentary duo of John Buccigross and Darren Pang anchors the broadcast, and every team now runs unique playbooks powered by NHL EDGE data.

Connected Franchise is the headline new mode. Built after years of community requests, it lets up to 32 human-controlled players create, customize, and run a shared online league, with commissioner tools, salary-cap management, free-agent bidding, and crossplay roster sharing across PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

San Jose Sharks forward Macklin Celebrini headlines the Standard and Deluxe Edition covers, marking the first NHL 27 cover featuring the 2024 second-overall pick. EA Play members have already had a 10-hour trial since September 4, and Deluxe Edition buyers received seven days of early access.

Update 1 rolled out alongside the global launch window. The patch adds 23 authentic Jumbotron content packs across NHL arenas, fixes Charged Pass velocity at close range, rebalances offensive-zone puck retention and penalty-kill breakouts, expands Connected Franchise commissioner tools with Force OT Win and Force SO Win overrides, simplifies Hockey Ultimate Team reward paths, and corrects player-name pronunciations for several skaters in broadcast commentary. EA also confirmed it is using consented AI voice technology with full collaboration from Buccigross and Pang to expand recorded commentary lines, with disclosure and ongoing refinement built into the post-launch roadmap.

CHEL Week 1: Comeback Season wraps today with the Community Vote winner unlock at 9:00 AM PT, delivering a +1 OVR upgrade and a Featured Event Player to early-access players.
