Dragon's Dogma 2 Update 3.2 Lands September 1 With Major Pawn AI Overhaul and Three Independent Save Slots

Capcom has delayed Dragon's Dogma 2's title update 3.2 from late August to September 1, 2026, at 5:30 PM PT, the developer confirmed through the official Dragon's Dogma 2 website. The patch lands ahead of Dragon's Dogma II: Dark Arisen, the October 9 expansion release, and lands as the largest content overhaul the base game has received since launch.

The centerpiece is a sweeping Pawn AI overhaul. Companions can now grapple enemies and draw their attention, interfere with incoming attacks when the Arisen is downed, and protect the player during incapacitation. New behaviors let pawns suggest and execute strategies — luring grouped enemies toward large boulders, pulling the Arisen up while grappling large foes, and prioritizing targets that are focusing the player during ranged-vocation play. Incapacitated pawns being revived are now temporarily invincible, and pawns afflicted with Dragonsplague will stun large enemies through leg attacks, attack smaller foes without consuming stamina for a limited time, and accumulate the loss gauge at a slower rate.

The save architecture has been rebuilt. Each Arisen now has three independent save slots, each holding its own Autosave, Interim Save, and Last Inn Rest Save. Loading from a Last Inn Rest no longer overwrites the other two, and the save screen now displays the date and time of each entry. A new item, Dragonsbaulk Draught, cures Dragonsplague outright.

Combat has been opened up across all ten vocations. Assignable weapon skills per slot expand from four to six, and the new core skill Magick Barrier lets Mage/Sorcerer players raise a stamina-consuming shield that deflects enemy attacks. Tricksters gain Buoyant Brume, a mid-air float that costs stamina, and Mirour Vesture gains a charged cast that buffs nearby party members. Fighter, Archer, Thief, Warrior, Mystic Spearhand, and Magick Archer each receive tuning notes detailed in the official patch list, alongside enemy behavior adjustments for goblins, saurians, slimes, skeletons, drakes, and other factions.

A long list of UI improvements — equipment filters, an option to favorite gear, a button-mapping layout revamp, and dedicated keyboard controls for weapon-skill activation and switching — ships alongside bug fixes for facial expression glitches, oxcart animation errors at high framerates, and several quest progression blockers.

The PC-specific patch adds Volumetric Fog Resolution, Cloudscape Resolution, Foliage Density, Terrain Quality, Ray Tracing GI Quality, Ray Tracing GI Shading Quality, Effect Reflections, and a graphics memory readout to the Graphics options menu. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S get a new Resource-Intense Effects Quality toggle.
