Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 Sets October 20 Premiere on Netflix With New Trailer and Full Cast Reveal

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 finally has a confirmed premiere date. During its panel at Anime NYC on August 20, 2026, Netflix and CD PROJEKT RED announced that the second season of Studio Trigger's anime series will debut on October 20, 2026, accompanied by a new trailer and the first full look at the show's voice cast.

The reveal came as part of a wider Netflix animation slate shown at the convention, which also brought updates for Blue Eye Samurai, Sakamoto Days Season 2, The One Piece, Lego One Piece, and Bass x Machina, the western-anime hybrid from Mappa and Madhouse with Brian Tyree Henry as Bass Reeves.

For Edgerunners 2, the new trailer leans hard into the same neon-and-blood-soaked Night City that drove the original series to a major role in Cyberpunk 2077's resurgence. CD PROJEKT RED's official press release, distributed by the CD PROJEKT RED Press Center, confirms the show is a 10-episode continuation focusing on family, obsession, and legacy rather than a direct follow-up to David Martinez's story.

The new season will follow four characters across Night City's seedy underbelly: Weak, a washed-up legend trying to stay out of the spotlight; D, a revenge-seeking nomad pulled back to the city; Talia, a chrome-obsessed runner with a taste for the most aggressive augmentations; and Roman, a young cinephile drawn into the world of edgerunning for the first time.

Edgerunners 2 is produced once again by CD PROJEKT RED in collaboration with Netflix and animated by Studio Trigger. The first season, which aired in 2022, is widely credited with driving a major surge in Cyberpunk 2077's player base and remains one of the streaming service's flagship anime titles.

The release window was first teased at Anime Expo 2026 in July, when early audience reactions to a screening of the new season were positive enough that Netflix opened pre-orders on its Tudum fan-event page. What was missing until today's Anime NYC panel was the actual calendar date, a specific trailer, and the four lead characters. All three were revealed in the same presentation on August 20.

October 20 lands the show neatly between two major CD PROJEKT RED milestones: the ongoing Phantom Liberty revival of Cyberpunk 2077 on current-gen consoles, and the studio's separate, in-development follow-up to the game, which is being built in parallel under the working title Project Orion. Edgerunners 2 is not connected to Project Orion's story and will stand on its own.

The October 20 premiere puts Edgerunners 2 in direct company with several other major anime launches Netflix has lined up for the second half of 2026, including Sakamoto Days Season 2 in January 2027 and The One Piece in 2027, while Bass x Machina will follow on November 3.
