Bodycam UEFN Launches in Fortnite as Nazara and Virstate Bring the Tactical Shooter to Epic's Platform

Bodycam, the photorealistic tactical shooter built around a first-person body-camera perspective, has been adapted into Fortnite as a standalone island built with Unreal Editor for Fortnite.

Nazara Technologies and Virstate jointly announced the global launch of Bodycam UEFN on September 11, developed in agreement with Reissad Studio, the team behind the original PC game. The Fortnite version is an independently created island and is not sponsored, endorsed or administered by Epic Games, but it is being published inside the same Fortnite client where players already search for creator-made experiences.

The island carries over the franchise's signature elements, including the body-camera framing, close-quarters combat, a deliberately realistic atmosphere and high-pressure multiplayer matches. Players can jump in by searching for "Bodycam" in Fortnite Discover or by entering the island code 9784-3946-5466 directly into the game.

Nitish Mittersain, MD and CEO of Nazara Technologies, framed the launch as the start of a broader push. He described Bodycam UEFN as Nazara's first build inside Fortnite and said the publisher plans to "build there at scale," positioning Fortnite as one of the largest discovery platforms in the world and using UEFN as the technical template for future IPs, original experiences and partnerships inside the ecosystem.

Studio Director Luca Dassier at Reissad said the project is also a chance for the team to get hands-on time with Verse, the programming language Epic is positioning around Unreal Engine 6. Dassier added that the partnership gives Reissad the resources to expand into Fortnite without diverting focus from the Bodycam PC experience, which remains the studio's primary title.

The launch lands at a moment when UEFN has become a credible home for premium-quality first-person experiences, not just the casual creator maps the mode was originally associated with. Epic's tools have matured enough that studios like Reissad can ship a photorealistic shooter with bespoke mechanics and console-tier fidelity inside Fortnite's player base, which now numbers in the hundreds of millions of monthly users. Future updates to Bodycam UEFN are expected to add new maps, weapons and seasonal events, though no roadmap has been published yet.

For Bodycam on PC, the launch is positioned as a parallel effort rather than a replacement. Reissad and Nazara have both stressed that the PC build remains the studio's main focus and that the Fortnite island exists alongside it, not in its place.
