Battlefield 6 Update 1.4.2.5 Goes Live With Black-Screen, Water Combat and REDSEC Fixes
DICE rolls Battlefield 6 Update 1.4.2.5 on September 1 with quality-of-life fixes across multiplayer, vehicles, weapons, Portal and REDSEC, including a long-running Xbox Series S unresponsiveness issue.

DICE has rolled Battlefield 6 Game Update 1.4.2.5 on September 1, 2026, bringing a targeted batch of quality-of-life and reliability fixes to both Battlefield 6 and the free-to-play REDSEC mode across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
According to the official update notes, the patch addresses several issues introduced or identified after the larger 1.4.2.0 update from August 18. The headline fixes include restored functionality for Support players pinging downed teammates, helicopter miniguns once again damaging soldiers in the water, and laser designation working correctly against the F/A-81F Super Spectre and F-74A Seacat fighter jets during Carrier Strike.
The patch also makes a small but visible change to the CSB IV EOD Bot, which now acts as a light melee weapon that grants the faster run speed benefit without the destruction capability of heavy melee weapons. Grenade warning indicators now stay visible at the edge of the screen when the grenade sits outside the player's view, and the Match Trigger attachment no longer affects fully automatic fire on the BROD and EF88 rifles.
On the UI side, DICE says it has addressed several causes of black screens that could appear after finishing a match and switching from the Event tab back to the lobby, though the studio notes "remaining occurrences continue to be investigated." Placeholder squad names and icons no longer appear during the "Top Squad" End of Round presentation, and the Featured Event tab now displays correctly in the menus. Portal Custom Lobbies also receive a fix for the "Start" tile becoming unresponsive after opening Lobby Settings or the Pause menu while the countdown is active.
Stability improvements include reduced water-related server processing, an end to the Xbox Series S freeze when returning from active Multiplayer gameplay, and AI defenders using boats in Sector 3 of Breakthrough on Wake Island no longer leaving the combat area. REDSEC players get a fix for visual artefacts at the Combat Training POI and a correction that limits Gauntlet: Fighter Sweep squads to two players.
Players can download Update 1.4.2.5 now across all platforms. The full patch notes are available on the official Battlefield newsroom.
