ANANTA Locks January 15, 2027 Release at gamescom ONL, Heads to PS5, PC and Mobile

ANANTA, the free-to-play urban open-world RPG formerly known as Project Mugen, will launch globally on January 15, 2027 across PlayStation 5, PC, iOS, and Android. Publisher NetEase Games and developer Naked Rain confirmed the date during gamescom Opening Night Live 2026 alongside a new release-window trailer and a wider look at the game's open world.

The game's central hook is built around its "Go Viral. Save the World." premise. Players take on the identity of an influencer in a modern city governed by algorithms and online culture, engaging with the urban world through the lens of a content creator. ANANTA's cities are inspired by real-world metropolises such as Shanghai, Hangzhou, and Tokyo, each with its own culture, atmosphere, and side activities ranging from cinemas and mahjong parlors to arcades, cat cafés, and open-air hot springs.

Missions, crises, and citywide adventures feed directly into the influencer system: completing them builds reputation, grows social influence, unlocks new resources, and opens up unique perks. Players can recruit more than 100 named NPCs, switch between multiple playable characters, and explore each storyline and combat style from a different angle. When trouble breaks out, the game shifts into a dynamic martial-arts combat system that lets players turn everyday objects into improvised weapons.

According to the official ANANTA site, players can get around the city by car, motorcycle, helicopter, yacht, subway, and hang glider, and can step into roles ranging from NCCA officer and hacker to delivery rider and content creator. The official ANANTA account also confirmed the date through the Summer Game Fest feed during ONL, with Push Square's hands-on preview noting that the title has "no character gacha" and unlocks cosmetics for its cast instead.

Gematsu, Siliconera, GamesRadar+, Game Informer, Kotaku, Pocket Tactics, Push Square, TheSixthAxis, Noisy Pixel, and OtakuKart all confirm the January 15, 2027 release date and the four-platform lineup. Pre-registration rewards are already live on the official site.
