Akupara Direct Recap: Rain World Anthology Heads to Switch 2, Airframe Ultra Sets November 5 Launch, Bonespire and AOKAKI Revealed

Akupara Games celebrated ten years of independent publishing on Sunday with the first-ever Akupara Direct, a thirty-minute showcase streamed on Twitch and YouTube that delivered seven announcements: a new Switch 2 physical release for the cult survival platformer Rain World, a firm release date for Videocult's Airframe Ultra, a brand-new game reveal from the Cryptmaster developers, and the launch of a new publishing sub-label.

The headline hardware news is a Rain World Anthology Edition that brings Videocult's survival platformer to Nintendo Switch 2 for the first time. The anthology packages the base game with both the Downpour and The Watcher expansions, and Akupara is partnering with Serenity Forge on a physical release for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2. Pre-orders opened today. The Standard Edition ships with an embossed slip cover, while the Collector's Edition adds an art book, a knitted Slugcat scarf, a linking keychain, a Shaker standee, a holographic sticker sheet, a soundtrack download card, and a collector's box. The game is ESRB rated E10+.

Videocult also picked up a firm release date for Airframe Ultra, its retro combat racer set in the Megacity West hoverbike underworld. After several earlier TBD windows, Airframe Ultra is now locked to launch on November 5th on PC via Steam. The pitch remains the same: build your racer, take your airframe three feet above the blacktop, and fight your way through Megacity West's districts with pipes, chains, katanas, and plasma torches. Online multiplayer racing is only half the game; you can also get knocked off your bike, brawl on foot, and steal a friend's ride.

Paul Hart and Lee Williams, the developer duo behind Cryptmaster, unveiled Bonespire, a whimsical-dark crafting simulation built around a wizard tower. Players forge ancient artifacts, brew dubious potions, and decipher scrolls as recurring visitors arrive to trade, with choices rippling out to reshape the world below, all observed from the tower window. Bonespire is coming soon to PC.

Akupara also announced a new publishing sub-label, Kallisti Games, with AOKAKI as its debut title. AOKAKI is a retro, feudal platformer built around insect-inspired characters that dash, pogo, and parry across a war-torn land to reclaim it from a shogun, scheduled for PC in 2027.

Spooky Doorway used the Direct to tease a new case for The Darkside Detective: Backside of the Moon, the third entry in the supernatural point-and-click series. The Direct offered a glimpse at a case involving werewolves, and, in the studio's words, traffic. The full game is targeting 2027 on PC, and a demo is available now.

Two shorter items rounded out the showcase. Mango Factory's episodic murder-mystery ADV Kumitantei: Old School Slaughter locked Episode 2 to November 12 on PC, following Episode 1's Very Positive Steam reception. Mankibo also revealed "Working with Montabi," a free desktop companion for PC and Mac that lets players attract, idle with, and complete a Montapedia of Montabi while running productivity utilities like a to-do list, a Pomodoro timer, and a lo-fi player, set to arrive in November 2026.

Founded on October 5, 2016, Akupara Games has spent a decade publishing roughly sixty independent titles without outside investment, including Rain World, Cryptmaster, GRIME, Mutazione, Desert Child, and The Darkside Detective. The publisher confirmed the Akupara Direct will become an annual event.
